Jon is a Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon who is motivated to achieve good outcomes for his patients. Jon individualises care according to his patient’s specific needs. This assists him in making the right decisions for his patient’s quality of life with the aim of maximising their health outcomes. Jon does this irrespective of whether surgery is indicated or not.

Jon’s speciality is in all aspects of shoulder surgery and precision joint replacement. He is fellowship trained in shoulder, joint replacement and trauma surgery.

Jon uses a variety of contemporary techniques and precision CT guided planning to optimise the outcome of his Joint Replacement Surgery. This includes the use of Computer Navigation, 3D Printing for patient specific tools, Robotics as well as Conventional Instrumentation, as required.

Jon performs the following

  • Shoulder Surgery:
    • Total Shoulder Replacement (Anatomical and Reverse)
    • Revision Total Shoulder Replacement
    • Arthroscopic Surgery (for instability, Rotator Cuff pathology, AC joint pathology)
    • Surgery for upper limb fractures and trauma ( Wrist, Elbow and Shoulder)
  • Elbow Surgery:
    • Stabilisation, fractures and Osteoarthritis
  • Knee Surgery:
    • Knee Replacement Surgery
    • Revision Total Knee Replacement
    • ACL Reconstruction
    • Arthroscopic surgery (including meniscal repair) for sports injuries of the knee
    • Surgery for fractures and injuries of the knee

Jon trained at Guy’s Hospital in London and qualified in 1994. He did his Orthopaedic training in Oxford and qualified as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in the UK in 2004. He was awarded both FRCS (England) and FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics). During his time in Oxford, Jon conducted orthopaedic research with internationally recognised Shoulder Surgeon Professor Andrew Carr and was awarded the prestigious Lord Nuffield Scholarship in 2003.

Jon has a strong interest in teaching and training. He is an Associate Professor with the University of Western Australia and is involved in lecturing, mentoring as well as hands on teaching of medical students.

Jon was the Chair of the Western Australian State Training Committee for Orthopaedic Surgery from 2014 to 2018 having previously been the Deputy Chair from 2012 to 2014.

Jon has completed post graduate fellowships in Shoulder Surgery (2003), Lower Limb Arthroplasty Surgery (2005) and Trauma Surgery (2006).

Jon has worked in Western Australia since 2006 as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and achieved his Australian Fellowship (FRACS) in 2008. He subsequently became a fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA) and remains a proud member today.
